Research Digital Humanities Unit

The digital humanities unit at CATS is an institution with the purpose of developing and utilising a variety of resources in the human, social, and cultural sciences. It will be built upon and carry on the groundwork by the Heidelberg Research Architecture (HRA). Rapidly growing audio, video, and textual data of research projects at CATS will be processed and made available to ensure flexible workflows of collaboration. Tamboti, the open-source metadata framework developed by the HRA, is an already very capable platform to serve this purpose.

Aided by the implementation and usability of software tools of the field of computer linguistics, widespread access to all types of source material will be possible. These interconnected digital databases and quickly searchable corpora of sources facilitate and expand the methods of cultural and social scientific work.
